Mrs. Edna Earl Brannon, 96, of Adel, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Memorial Convalescent Center of Adel. She was born in Abbeville, Alabama to the late Albert and Nellie Belle Peebles on November 23, 1915. Mrs. Brannon has been a Cook County resident since 1961 and was a member of the First Assembly of God in Adel and Joy Ladies Sunday School Class, a member of the Pink Ladies Auxilliary, and retired from Memorial Hospital of Adel after 25 years of dedicated service as a Certified Nurse Assistant and a ward clerk.

Mrs. Brannon was preceded in death by her husband, James Byron Brannon; a daughter, Mary Catherine Brannon; two grandchildren; and four brothers. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, James Brannon of Douglas, David and Faye Brannon of Tifton, Larry and Sharon Brannon of Marietta; two daughters, Nell Brewington of Adel and Christine McLean of Broxton; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Felix Peebles of Greenwood, S.C.; and one sister, Betty Sue Hooks of Oklahoma.

A funeral service for Mrs. Brannon was held Monday at 10 am in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Mr. Chris Newbern officiating. Pallbearers were Chuck Hancock, David Brannon, Tripp Harrison, Steve Allen, David Bundy, Craig Taylor, David Farmery and Thomas Farmery; honorary pallbearers were the Joy Ladies Sunday School Class and the Fishers of Men. Reba Spradley sang "Won't It Be Wonderful There" and "In the Garden" and Charlotte Dickerson played the piano. Interment took place in Broxton City Cemetery at 3 pm Monday in Broxton, Georgia. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.boonefunerals.com.
