Mrs. Mary Betts McCranie, 79, of Sparks, Georgia passed away June 20, 2012 at the Memorial Convalescent Center of Adel following a long illness. She was born February 16, 1933 in Cook County to the late William Emmette Betts, Jr. and Nellie Mae Rountree Betts. Mrs. McCranie lived in Cook County her entire life, was a homemaker, a member of the Pink Ladies Auxilliary, and a member of the Sparks Baptist Church. She was the widow of the late Howard McCranie. Survivors are two daughters and sons-in-law: Kathy and Robert Green and Kay and Carey Norton, all of Sparks; four grandchildren: Kristi and James Ashworth of Nashville, Keri and Craig Surrency of Sparks, Austin Norton of Sparks, and Tyler Norton of Sparks; two great-grandchildren, Tanner Ashworth of Nashville and Brody Surrency of Sparks; one brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Allie Jean Betts of Adel. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Martha Fendley.
A graveside funeral service for Mrs. McCranie was held Saturday, June 23, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Sparks Cemetery with Rev. Charles Johnson officiating. Wayne and Mary Nell Boyette sang "Beulah Land" and "Go Rest High on That Mountain." James Ashworth, Craig Surrency, Tyler Norton, Austin Norton, Russell McCranie and Harold Hull served as pallbearers. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.boonefunerals.com.
